As men we are often measured by our success in business or employment, wealth or status. Men can be labeled for ‘what we do’ rather than ‘who we are’.
Ignition is all about the men of One Church. We want you to reach your potential as leaders in the home, the workplace, the church and your social network. We encourage you to be the best sons, fathers, brothers, employees, bosses, husbands etc. you can be. We also encourage accountability with other good men to share the successes and trials of life together.
Through Ignition events we provide an environment to meet people, learn, have fun and grow healthy accountable relationships. Sometimes we have teaching or real live stories, sometimes we bond with our lads and invest in their future. We can build each other up, go on adventures, laugh together, face up to issues and often we just share a curry.
Our motto is ‘Together we’re Stronger’, and we know this to be true. In the past women have been better at connecting with each other and communication is a vital part of their support structure. Ignition aims to facilitate this same ethos and empower men to live a life of integrity and purpose, recognizing that success depends on having good friends around you. We are learning to be vulnerable and accepting that we sometimes get it wrong, but are determined to learn from every mistake.
However we go forward, we want to be men that are growing and improving from one year to the next – so often the teaching is designed to challenge you. But we want to support you to ‘live it’ and not just ‘know it’. We believe that your best future is dependant on your relationship with Jesus Christ, but you don’t have to be a Christian to join in our events which are held every couple of months. That means guys from One Church are able to invite mates from work etc just to chill and chat. We hope our lives give the best advert for Christian living, but we are by no means perfect! Anyone is welcome aged 18 – 118 and for ‘Dads & Lads’ events we include our boys.
The feedback we get from men is that they really enjoy and look forward to our events……but don’t take their word for it, sign up to our next event!
