Link

Link is a great way to make new friends, have some fun and be spiritually inspired. The meeting is held at One Church on alternate Tuesdays (see church calendar for dates) between 11:00am and 1:00pm. It is open to adults of any age whether they attend One Church or not. So – we would like to extend to you an invitation to come along – even if it’s only once.

A couple in their late teens who really enjoyed their time at Link said they wanted to come again whenever they could. Regular attenders passed on these comments…

“Love the happy atmosphere and all the friendly people. Just love coming to the club and knowing I am learning about God.”

“I enjoy the fun, fellowship and food.”

“I really look forward to Link with the worship and friends. We are able to have a chat and discuss our every day life.”

“Going to Link makes one feel alive having Jesus in our hearts and talking to all our friends who we love, the service is lovely and our dinner is too.”

So what do we do?
We always start with a mug of tea or coffee, which is followed by a very informal light hearted service. This generally comprises a fun quiz, a time of worship and prayer, plus a 20 minute encouraging or challenging talk. Alternatively, we hear from someone whose life has been impacted by being a Christian. The final 45 minutes is spent having a light lunch where people are free to chat and get to know one another.

The year 2010…
We have been encouraged to see the numbers attending Link steadily increase to almost 50.

  • At the start of 2010 we were treated to a challenging and encouraging message from Simon Jarvis our Senior Minister.
  • Testimonies of 3 people who regularly come to Link. One in particular stands out. The lady in question told us how God miraculously answered prayer when she was in hospital many years ago and doctors said she had only 20 minutes to live.
  • At Easter time we were especially blessed when we held a Communion service at Link for the first time. Andy Jorden gave us a fantastic insight into the significance of Communion.
  • We heard how God helped Penny Burch overcome a difficult childhood and how more recently how she is being blessed as she leads One Tots twice a week.

We concluded 2010 at Highfield Garden Centre in Whitminster where over 70 of us sat down and tucked into a Christmas lunch, enjoying each others company.

We love meeting new people and always endeavour to go out of our way to make them feel welcome. Why not give it a try!

Link Blog: October 2011

Have you experienced LINK?

Since we restarted Link after the summer break our numbers have continued to rise with seldom a meeting where we have not welcomed new people who have made Link a regular fixture.

Once again we are thankful for speakers who have encouraged us, some even taking time off work to minister.

Link continues to be a great place for meeting new friends, drinking lots of tea and coffee, enjoying “quizzes”, singing worship songs, praying for special needs and listening to talks from some fantastic people.

We are looking forward in the coming weeks to hearing Faith Anders telling us something about her life and how God has kept her. Faith was born to missionary parents in China.  We will be finishing off the autumn term with a special Christmas lunch.

Everyone tells us they can’t wait until the next Link meeting – so why not give it a try?  Are YOU the missing Link?
