Music & Media Blog

I’m sure you already know by now that Britain is hosting the 2012 Olympics. Did you also know that the race to put your request in for a ticket starts in April 2011?

Many will successfully obtain one but those that don’t will still enjoy watching from the comfort of their homes. Although most of us may never compete in the Olympics all of us can feel part of the events. We may not have the talent but we still have the enthusiasm!

It’s a bit like that when it comes to praising God. People use their talents to produce music, songs, media, that help others worship our awesome Father God who has done incredible things for us. The most amazing act being sending His Son, Jesus, to die for us!

Lots of us may not be able to sing or play an instrument. We may not have the technical knowledge to work a computer BUT that doesn’t stop us feeling part of something that brings honour to God and so together we praise and worship with great enthusiasm!

And you are welcome to join us!

Music & Media Blog – Jan 2010

And the nominees are…..

Yes it’s that time of year when actors, actresses, producers and directors are hoping to walk away with an Oscar! We all know that an award-winning production involves many people working hard behind the scenes. Most will never hold the prestigious award and yet I’m sure are proud to part of something bigger than themselves.

That’s a bit like those of us in the Music and Media department at One Church. Many people working together to produce something that others can watch, listen, sing and be part of. Our aim is not an Oscar or accolade but rather it’s to help people like you and I worship God. It is an amazing thing when people come together and sing songs about Jesus’ love. Spending time in the presence of God far outshines any of the glam and glitz of any award ceremony!

Music and Media Blog – November 2010

Hi there – here’s a question for you –what’s your most favourite film to date?  Hold that thought for a moment…

If you’re reading this Blog it probably means you have an interest in music or media –fantastic!  Are you a film buff or an avid concert goer? What sort of music do you like? What kind of films do you enjoy? From opera to rock music, romantic comedy to scary movies let’s face it, there’s something for everyone.

Music and media is a big part of what we enjoy at One Church and we are continually learning new ways to express this. Hot off the press is the news of our live album recording! To be released in the New Year, this will be an album full of contemporary worship songs written, sung and played by our music team. Further details will follow later.

…..ok, what’s your answer? I think mine has to be ‘Sleepless in Seattle’. Yes I admit it, I’m a hopeless romantic!

Take care

Julie

Music & Media – September 2010

How was your summer? Have you noticed that it’s no sooner over than shops start filling their shelves with Christmas things? It’s not always a bad thing to plan ahead, especially when it’s for something special. Take 3 services for example. The Music and Media department at One Church have been preparing for this throughout the summer. 3 services give us more opportunity to lead praise and worship and we can’t wait.

The Bible encourages us to praise God. Praise helps us to focus our attention on the One who loves us. In the middle of our hectic lives, praising God helps us to rest and find strength. Praise brings into perspective how great God is and how much He has done for us in sending His Son, Jesus.

No wonder the Music & Media team love to lead worship!

But speaking of Christmas, keep checking out the website for future dates and events- see you there!

Music & Media Blog – June 2010

Here at One Church every generation matters. God loves and cares for all His children.

Our Music & Media department is made up of people who are young and not so young.

Each with their own ability and skill but united in creating music & media that encourages every generation to worship our amazing God!

Psalm 100

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.

Worship the Lord with gladness;

Come before Him with joyful songs.

Know that the Lord is God.

It is He who made us, and we are His;

We are His people, the sheep of His pasture.

Enter His gates with thanksgiving

And His courts with praise;

Give thanks to Him and praise His name.

For the Lord is good and His love endures forever;

His faithfulness continues through all generations.

Your Love

“Your Love” is the latest song to be written by the Music & Media team at One Church. Here’s the song’s author – Amy Jorden – sharing her motivation behind the lyrics and what this song means to her.

Blog of the First

The Song Writer David said make a joyful noise all you people!

Isn’t there something fantastic about seeing people enjoying themselves? Laughter is contagious and so good for us. Having a great time whilst working hard is at the heart of the Music & Media team – even if it is at the expense of the drummers!

God wants us to enjoy life and reach our full potential in Him and what better way to do that than with people who love to worship Him?

Be blessed,
Rog & Ju
