New People’s Team Blog December 2011

Coming Soon………. new for 2012!

We are launching our Discovery course. What is the Discovery  course?  It is a 3 week course for new Christians or people who are exploring the Christian faith.

We are aiming to answer the following questions:-

  • Who was Jesus?
  • Why did He come and die?
  • Do I have to be perfect?

Also to help people on the next steps of their journey:-

  • The Bible – What is it?  Who wrote it?
How do I read it and apply it?
  • Prayer – Why do I need to pray?  How do I pray?
When do I need to pray?
  • The Holy Spirit – Who is the Holy Spirit?
What difference does this make to me?

It is going to be relaxed, fun and informal and will also give you the opportunity to ask your own questions too.

If you want to Discover Christianity then look out for the dates running through 2012.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Welcome Blog- April 2011

Mystery Shoppers!

Have you ever provided some form of service for a customer, at work perhaps, and thought to yourself ,“I wonder if that could have been a mystery shopper?” A number of organisations employ mystery shoppers to find out areas they can improve the service they deliver.

We have just run a team breakfast meeting at the Hallmark Hotel Matson (supporting local businesses!), taking 17 leaders to look at how we can improve our level of service and care.

One of the challenges the team were tasked with was to carry out a mystery shopping exercise where they had to make observations based on the service provided, the reception area, the car park and the breakfast itself. Overall it was pretty good. This was a great exercise to get us thinking about how we look after people at One Church and the importance of that first impression.

So now we’ve started watch this space! Please come and tell us how we’re doing and what else we can do to make your visit even better. If you enjoy serving and being part of a big team then speak to Chris or Lisa about how to get involved.

Welcome blog – December 2010

2010 has been a full on year and it has really flown! Inspire Conference, Guest Sundays, Missions events, Baptisms and even the Gloucester Quays takeover! Wherever we have been, the Welcome Team has had a great time rolling out the red carpet for our guests and visitors.

We have recently had the privilege of sharing what our team does here at One Church with a couple of guys from the City Church Vienna Austria as they are setting up their Welcome Team. Also the Go Generation team from Liege Belgium are looking for input on how to develop their Welcome Team, so we are looking forward to helping there in 2011 – all invitations gratefully received!

As One Church grows we need to grow the Welcome Team, as Simon has often said, grow the leaders and the church will grow! We love watching people come into church, get involved, grow and begin to serve in areas that they have never even considered before.

How can I get involved in the life of One Church?

Here are 2 ways:-

Captain’s Table 16th January 2011

Values Course 3rd, 10th & 17th February 2011

Welcome Blog September 2010 – 3 services are up and running!

Our 3 services programme was launched on 12 September. This has created more opportunity for our visitors and guests to get plugged into church. The Welcome Team have served brilliantly and have really stepped up to the challenge!

We are constantly told by visitors and guests at our services and events how much they are really impacted by the welcome they receive. It is our aim to roll out that red carpet every week and to really make everyone feel at home.

We love what we do!

If you are thinking how you can serve at One Church, then the Welcome Team is a great place to start as you will get to meet the whole church and find out how it all works as part of the process.

There is no shortage of places for you to serve so here are some of the main areas that the team covers:-

Greeting, Hospitality, Refreshments, Parking, Information, Communion prep, Welcome Café, New People’s Team.

For more information on joining the team or starting out on the Journey – come and see Chris or Lisa at the Welcome Café.

New People’s Team

In January we launched the first phase of our New People’s Team. The aim of the team will be to help you from your first visit to the church … finding a Connect group … to being fully involved in the life of the church. This will be an additional component of the Welcome Team and of the Journey Into One Church that we are very excited about.

We are committed to follow through after your visit to church to find out how you got on and ensure that you get any further information you need; answer your questions and provide you with any further help.

There are a few more ideas that we are keeping under our hats for now – but watch this space!
